Use of Generative AI Policy
The Journal of Informatics Education and Research acknowledges the increasing use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Generative AI technologies in academic research and scholarly communication. The journal supports the responsible, transparent, and ethical use of AI-assisted tools while maintaining academic integrity and human accountability.
Acceptable Use of Generative AI
Authors may use Generative AI tools solely for:
- Language improvement
- Grammar correction
- Readability enhancement
- Formatting assistance
- Coding support
- Data visualization assistance
The use of AI tools must not compromise the originality, accuracy, integrity, or scientific validity of the manuscript.
Mandatory Disclosure Requirement
Authors must clearly disclose the use of any Generative AI or AI-assisted technologies in the manuscript at the time of submission.
Example disclosure statement:
“The authors used [AI Tool Name] for language editing and manuscript preparation assistance. The authors reviewed and verified all outputs and take full responsibility for the content of the manuscript.”
Prohibited Uses
The following uses of Generative AI are strictly prohibited:
- Fabrication or falsification of data
- Generation of fake references or citations
- Manipulation of peer review
- Creation of misleading scientific content
- Plagiarism or uncredited AI-generated text
- Submission of AI-generated research without human verification
Authorship Policy
AI tools, chatbots, or Generative AI systems (including ChatGPT or similar technologies) cannot be listed as authors or co-authors because they cannot:
- Take responsibility for the work
- Approve the final manuscript
- Manage copyright or conflicts of interest
Authorship must be limited to human contributors only.
Responsibility and Accountability
Authors remain fully responsible for:
- Accuracy of content
- Originality of the manuscript
- Ethical compliance
- Citation validity
- Scientific integrity
The journal reserves the right to reject manuscripts where AI use violates ethical publishing standards.
Editorial and Reviewer Use of AI
Editors and reviewers must not upload confidential manuscripts into Generative AI systems or third-party AI tools that may compromise confidentiality, intellectual property, or data privacy.

The journal follows ethical publishing principles aligned with recommendations from:
